Varshphal: Your Annual Horoscope
Varshphal (also written Varshaphala) means “the result of the year”. It is the annual horoscope of Vedic astrology: a chart drawn for the moment each year when the Sun returns to the exact degree it held at your birth. That moment falls on or close to your birthday, and the chart is read for the year that follows, from one birthday to the next.
What an annual chart shows
The annual chart is read like a birth chart (Kundali), but only for one year. The points a Varshphal reading usually looks at include:
- The annual ascendant (Varsha Lagna): the rising sign of the year’s chart, which sets the houses for that year.
- Muntha: a sensitive point that moves forward one sign for every year of your age, counted from the ascendant of your birth chart. The house it falls in shows where the year’s attention tends to go.
- The Lord of the Year (Varsheshwar): the planet that is given charge of the year, and how well it is placed.
- The planets in the houses of the annual chart, and the connections between them.
- The periods of the year: a timeline that divides the year into stretches ruled by different planets.

- Open the Birth Chart and enter your name, date, time and place of birth.
- On the chart page, open the Varshphal tab.
- Use the year buttons to move to another year. The annual chart uses your birth place and time, and you can look at any year from your birth year onward.
The tab gives an overview, a plain-language reading of the year ahead, the period timeline and the details of the annual chart. Your birth details are used only to draw the chart.
Things to keep in mind
A Varshphal reading is traditional guidance about the themes of a year; it is not a promise of events. The quality of the result depends on an accurate birth time. For a personal discussion of your chart, you can book a Kundali analysis.
