Bhagavad Gita 9.22 (Chapter 9, verse 22)

The Bhagavad Gita is part of the Mahabharata. It records a talk between Krishna and the warrior Arjuna on the field of Kurukshetra, just before a great battle. Krishna is the speaker.

Traditional Significance

“Yoga-kṣema” is a short phrase: traditional commentators explain “yoga” as gaining what one lacks and “kṣema” as keeping safe what one already has. So the verse is read as Krishna saying that he takes care of the needs of those who are wholly devoted to him.

This is a statement of devotion in the Gita. It is not a promise to any reader.

Traditional Practice

The verse is read, studied and often quoted in talks on devotion (bhakti). There is no fixed time or number of repetitions.
